I want to start off by thanking you for your support of Tenderfeet. The school has made positive strides in the past year, thanks to people like you throughout the world who have made a tremendous impact on young people’s lives.
This note includes some difficult news that I need to share. As someone who has been working as a Tenderfeet fundraiser (2006-2009) and Tenderfeet Foundation President (2010-present), I have been blessed to witness the amazing growth and transformation of the school.
Starting with a few sheet-metal buildings literally in the middle of a scrapyard to a vibrant, full-fledged school campus, the school has come incredibly far. Generous people like you have made all that possible!
With that being said, it has come time to reevaluate my own situation. My position has always been as an unpaid volunteer, and I’m proud of the fact that the Tenderfeet Foundation has kept overhead to an absolute minimum by depending on volunteers and paying no salaries for staff. The challenge of being a volunteer is that all the work for Tenderfeet is done outside of my regular job and other responsibilities to my family and other organizations.
After sixteen years, I have decided that now is the time to step down from the role of Tenderfeet Foundation President. Discussions with the Tenderfeet board have led us to conclude that we do not have the personnel to keep the Tenderfeet Foundation going as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Therefore, the operations of the Foundation will be ceasing on January 31, 2023 (seven weeks from now).
Mama Margaret has been informed and received the news with a gracious attitude, and profound appreciation for all that has been accomplished for the school. She wishes she could thank each of you in person! Mama Margaret believes the school is in a position to move forward independently without ongoing support from the Tenderfeet Foundation.
I want to thank the Tenderfeet board, volunteers, partners, and donors for a wonderful 16 years. I’m in awe of what you all have accomplished for the vulnerable children of Kenya.
All donations received between now and January 31, 2023 will be used to support the school. No donations will be accepted after that date. To donate before the deadline, please click here.
Once again, please know that you are appreciated beyond measure and have brought joy and blessings to children in desperate poverty.
